SEND Vision
At Long Marston VA C of E Primary School we put the needs of the children at the centre of everything we do. We believe that all children have the right to access the curriculum and be part of our inclusive setting. Every child is getting their needs met by Quality First Teaching in the classrooms. Highly effective teachers and TAs understand the needs of the children and are able to implement the curriculum well. All members of staff have high expectations for all pupils.
Ofsted '23 recognised, 'Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), respond well to the high expectations of staff in terms of both their work and their behaviour'.
Parents/carers are involved in every step of the process and work collaboratively with the school.
Local Offer From Hertfordshire
As part of the SEN reforms, Hertfordshire County Council has to provide access to information of what is on offer across the county.
The Local Offer lets parents and young people know what special educational needs and disabilities services are available in Hertfordshire, and who can access them. Please follow the link for further information on the Hertfordshire Local Offer.
Dacorum DSPL (DSPL Area 8) is one of 9 areas in Hertfordshire where parents, early years settings, primary and secondary schools, further education, local authority professionals and other agencies work together to review what is available and develop provision to fill in the gaps.
What is Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL)?
DSPL is a Hertfordshire-wide partnership approach where parents, staff in early years settings and schools, further education colleges, local authority officers and representatives from other agencies, work together as part of an Area Group, reviewing and developing the range of provision and support services available to their local community that:
- Meets the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), aged 0-25, as close to home as possible.
- Improves outcomes for wellbeing and attainment
- Widens choice for children and parents/carers
- Removes barriers to learning
- Uses resources more effectively
